Flavia Tumusiime stands out as one of Uganda’s most versatile media personalities, celebrated for her work as an actress, radio and television host, voice-over artist, emcee, and author. Her career highlights include hosting the mid-morning "AM-PM Show" on 91.3 Capital FM in Kampala, co-hosting "Morning @ NTV" on NTV Uganda, and working as a VJ for Channel O. Tumusiime's notable acting role was as Kamali Tenywa in Nana Kagga's television series "Beneath The Lies" from 2014 to 2016. She also co-hosted the Guinness Football Challenge.

She is slated to be the host of the upcoming inaugural ICT National Summit scheduled to take place between 9th to 10th September 2024 in Kampala powered by the ICT Association of Uganda (ICTAU) in collaboration with Ministry of ICT and National Guidance.

Other entities expected at this inaugural tech event to be hosted by Flavia include Innovation Village, FSD Uganda, refactor among others.  

Personal Life

In 2019, Flavia married Andrew Kabuura, a fellow media personality known for his work in sports broadcasting on NTV Uganda and NBS Sport, two media giants subsidiaries of Nation Media Group and Next Media Services respectively. Born in 1989 in Kampala, Flavia is the only child of Enoch Tumusiime and Christine Asiimwe, originally from Kabale, South Western Uganda.

She and sports journalist Andrew Kabuura are co-parents and the media power couple is blessed with three children, including a set of twins. 


Education

Flavia attended St. Theresa Kisubi for her primary education, followed by Kitante Hill Secondary School for both "O" and "A" levels. She then graduated with a bachelor’s degree in International Business from Makerere University Business School and pursued postgraduate studies at Cavendish University in Uganda.


Television Career

Flavia’s television career began in her teenage years with WBS TV’s "Teen's Club," a show she hosted alongside other teens for four years. From 2010 to 2012, she presented "K-files" on WBS TV. Starting in 2011, she presented the "Guinness Football Challenge," which aired on NTV Uganda, ITV, and KTN Kenya. In 2012, she served as a presenter for Big Brother Africa and a video presenter on Channel O. In 2016, she joined NTV Uganda as a news anchor on "NTV Tonight" and later co-hosted "Morning @ NTV" from early 2018.

Radio Career

Flavia’s radio career commenced in 2006 with a brief stint at HOT100 FM before joining Uganda's leading radio station, 91.3 Capital FM, where she hosted the popular mid-morning show "AM-PM." She became the station's longest-serving host before her departure on August 31, 2022, capping 16 years in radio.


Awards and Recognition

Flavia’s accolades include the Young Achievers Award for Media and Journalism in 2013, the Silver Award for Best Mid-Morning Show at the 2013 Radio and TV Awards, and the Teeniez Role Model at the Buzz Teeniez Awards in 2013. In 2015, she was named Best Dressed Female Media Personality at the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards and Best Female Radio Personality at the Uganda Entertainment Awards in 2016.

Contributions to Television and Film

Flavia’s contributions extend to television shows and films, including her leading role as Kamali Tenywa in the 2018 series "Beneath The Lies." In 2014, she hosted a celebrity web series and participated in Tusker Twende Kazi, representing Uganda. In 2013, she served as a judge on Tusker Project Fame, a regional televised talent show. In 2010, she starred in "Irreversible Regret" and played Pam alongside R&B singer Juliana Kanyomozi in "Kiwani."

Flavia Tumusiime’s multi-faceted career in media and entertainment showcases her as a formidable talent in Uganda’s media landscape. With her accomplishments in radio, television, and film, she continues to be an influential figure and role model in the industry.
